About The Author
A man of strong faith. He is known for his service to his Country, to his Community and to his God. He is a Vietnam Service -Connected Disabled Veteran, former government worker, corporate manager, businessman, and community activist known for getting things done. His current passion and energies are directed toward sharing his management and leadership skills and resources to empower more African American Youth and Families to become entrepreneurs. He is retired and proud to be a gentlemen farmer (in his backyard). He enjoys reflecting on, writing about and having good discussions on the things that matter in life. Most of all, he is grateful for his volunteer service to the Youth Entrepreneurship Development Foundation organization that he founded and serve as President/CEO for more than ten (10) years. As an entrepreneur himself, starting and running a successful company for many years, he encourages youth to think about and actively pursue becoming business owners.
Generations live and die without any recorded history of their family connections. Freddie Jones leaves a glimpse of his past and gives us entry into his memory bank to show us how important it is to remember the influence of grandparents, parents and others in our immediate and extended families. Freddie has had interesting and diverse life experiences. Some will make you laugh and others will make you cry, but all will keep you entertained! Discover the strengths and challenges of a man whose present looks nothing like his past. Today, Freddie says, I'm dealing with the hand I've been dealt and life is good!
I served in the US Air Force from 1961 to 1968. I was wounded in Vietnam in 1965, completed my military assignment and was honorably discharged in 1968. I continued my career as a Federal Employee with the US Air Force and the US Small Business Administration as an Acquisition Management Specialist. During my work with the Federal Government, I was assigned other functions to support Minority Business Development.
